About Us
Welcome to The Wool Knitters, where tradition meets innovation, and craftsmanship is celebrated in every thread. Our journey is rooted in the heart of Kullu Valley, a region renowned for its rich heritage of handweaving, knitting, and spinning. We are proud to employ over 500 skilled artisans, whose dedication and talent bring our beautiful creations to life.
Our Story
The Wool Knitters was founded with a mission to preserve the traditional crafts of the Himalayas while empowering the local artisan community. Our founder, Shivani Thakur, herself comes from an artisanal household where the art of crafting was a way of life. Her deep-rooted connection to these traditions inspired her to create a platform that showcases the timeless techniques of Kullu to the world while also providing sustainable livelihoods to artisans. From humble beginnings, we have grown into a vibrant community that bridges the gap between age-old traditions and contemporary design.
What Inspires Us
Our inspiration comes from the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas and the rich cultural tapestry of its people. The flora and fauna of the region, the vibrant festivals, and the resilient spirit of the local communities are woven into the fabric of our products. Each piece tells a story, capturing the essence of the mountains and the skilled hands that craft them.
Artisanal Stories
At The Wool Knitters, every artisan has a story. Stories of heritage, skill passed down through generations, and the pride of creating something beautiful with their hands. We are honored to share these stories with you through our products. Each shawl, stole, doll, and decor item is a testament to the hard work, passion, and artistry of our artisans.
Women Empowerment
Empowering women is at the heart of The Wool Knitters. We believe in the strength and potential of women artisans, providing them with opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. Our craft training programs are designed to enhance their skills, introduce new techniques, and foster innovation. By empowering these women, we not only preserve traditional crafts but also uplift entire communities, fostering a sense of pride and independence.

- Spinning: Using natural fibers like pure wool and hemp, our artisans spin yarn that forms the foundation of our products.
- Hemp Products: We also create a range of eco-friendly items using hemp, promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.
- Metal and Wood Crafts: Our artisans also work with metal and wood, creating beautiful bookmarks, coasters, and other decor items that add a rustic charm to your home.
